"We understand that health and fitness professionals enjoy helping their clients get and stay health, but there's also a fair bit of administrative work on a daily basis required to meet business and tax obligations...In addition to high availability we give health professionals tools that are specific to them such as scheduling, CRM, accounts and marketing. The result is that health professionals have a solution tailored specifically for them at an affordable price and have all the tools and information they need in one central, secure location." It was great to get a mention from Rob over at Fitness Australia in his latest blog. Thanks Rob from the inForm team!
What about if you are running your business along nicely or building a new one from scratch? How many new business owners are looking at 'cloud-based' technologies; online platforms and communications platforms that are largely free as a way of reducing the overheads associated with starting or running a new fitness business? Are we investing enough time in investigating how we can make our businesses more sustainable and give us some of our lives back from the administration?
Technology used to be such a high start up cost for business - hardware, software, maintenance - all barriers to getting off the ground. 2011 is a different time with virtually no barriers to starting a business with just a mobile phone in hand and some subscriptions to services like Gmail, GoogleDocs, Dropbox, Twitter, Facebook, Eventbrite and others.
There are also some very cool and fitness industry specific applications being made available to fitness businesses online. The various payment and billing companies in Australia are developing integrated platforms for processing payments through Facebook and the like plus there are complete online client management systems like GetMeInForm.com - an Australian-based company - creating complete business & communication solutions for small to medium business owners, in particular sole-trading trainers.
"Social Networking Sites & What it means for you and your business"
Adam Lever from www.getinform.com says, "With the rise in social media and social networks, it's becoming even easier to use technology to gain competitive advantage. Businesses are increasingly making use of technology to connect with customers and making interacting with them easier and more natural, as well as simplifying the process of day-to-day operations". He goes on to say that Social media (e.g. blogs, forums, podcasts) and social networks (e.g. Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn) are an inexpensive way to engage with your clients, connect or create a community or extend your reach - helping you to build a better business. The key to build a communication strategy - understand what you are trying to achieve and choose the appropriate socially engaging tools to help you get there. Remember "share, don't sell".
