The Australian Federal Government launched a new health initiative – Swap it Don’t Stop It, this week. This is great news for the health and fitness industry as it is encouraging Australians to adopt a healthier lifestyle. The key mission is to empower every Australian to swap unhealthy habits for healthier options. The message is telling people they don’t have to give up totally on the things they love but to swap in some healthy habits. Through the 12 week planner the campaign in encouraging 4 key swaps:
- Swap big for small – downsize your portion sizes and don’t go back for seconds
- Swap often for sometimes – try to cut down on the junk food and swap it for salad or fruit.
- Swap sitting for moving – start to walk the shorter distances rather than driving
- Swap watching for playing – start to get involved in sport whether it is a social game at the park or entering in a sporting competition
The good news for health and fitness professionals is the opportunity to be involved. Through advertising the Swap It campaign you can assist clients with their 12 week plan whether it be getting fitter, managing an injury or changing their diet.
