Technology is a great enabler. One of our team members came across this the other day – a new spin on the old cane. With integrated features that read and capture client health data such as pulse, blood pressure, body temperature and even a built-in navigator for emergency situations.

As the designer intended, this device would assist many elderly people to provide information, and physical and emotional reassurance.

Named ‘The Aid’ by designer Egle Ugintaite it recently won the grand prize in Fujitsu’s 2011 design award and is part of the larger pursuit for “human-centered” designs, helping to open the door to new lifestyle possibilities.

Will we be enabling our clients with this technology anytime soon?
